The Masked Singer's Michael Owen says producers asked him to take 'singing lessons'

The Masked Singer asked him to take singing lessons before he performed on the ITV show.The former England soccer star became the latest celebrity to unveil themselves on the quirky ITV talent show - with fans finally finding out he was Doughnut on Saturday night (February 29).In a shock double elimination, Michael unmasked himself on stage along with actress Jaime Winstone, who was Firework.Despite being a fan favourite, the football pundit confessed he was the "worst singer" to ever appear on the show, and now it seems the producers helped him out behind the scenes.Michael spilled the beans on his Masked Singer stint whilst appearing on ITV's Lorraine - including how frightened he was of singing on stage.Speaking about what it was like to step out on stage, show host Lorraine Kelly asked Michael: "Was it scary?"Michael replied: "Just watching that montage right there, I can't stop smiling.

It was so much fun, but I cannot tell you there was no smiling on my face as I was about to walk out on stage. It was petrifying!"Liverpool legend Michael's last performance was a crowd-pleasing rendition of Five's 1998 rap hit Everybody Get Up.He also sang Sweet Caroline, Eye Of The Tiger and Spice Up Your Life.Speaking about his last rap, Michael said: "I did a rap at the end which was quite difficult."He proceeded to explain how producers would "tailor" songs to fit each star, and how they asked him to take singing lessons before the episodes aired.He went on: "I think they tailor the songs.

They put them in front of you again and they ask you to sing and do a couple of singing lessons, let's say, see if you can do it okay, but I think they picked a few good types for me.
