Manchester United owners the Glazer family are reportedly set to pocket £11m next month after the club delayed paying a tax bill.
United announced last week that their net debt had risen from £127.4m to a huge £429.1m in their quarterly financial results.
Small print showed that the club chose to defer for a year a £10m VAT bill to the UK Government. However, there was also a dividend of a second £11m windfall for their shareholders, which the Mail claim will see the Glazers rake in more than £8.5m.
The Glazer family’s ownership of the club has been shunned for years, with ‘#glazersout’ regularly trending on Twitter and yellow and green scarves being worn at Old Trafford, the club’s original colours from the 19th century as Newton Heath.
