Rabbi Arnie Saunders has been a councillor in Kersal since he beat Labour in a by-election four years ago – the first Tory win in the council ward for 25 years.
But he is no newcomer to politics having joined the Conservatives aged 11. The self-described 'caring capitalist', who cannot touch coins due to a nickel allergy, is taking on sitting Salford mayor Paul Dennett, who calls himself a 'sensible socialist', in what the Rabbi dubs a 'David and Golliath' battle.
