A teenage girl who fought back against militants who killed her parents has been hailed a hero. Insurgents stormed Qamar Gul's house looking for her father, the village chief, last week.
They gunned down the man and his wife, as well as injuring several other people. In retaliation their daughter used an AK-47 assault rifle to kill two Taliban fighters and wound several others in the Ghor province.

Since the attack Qamar, who is thought to be between 14 and 16-years-old, and her younger brother have been taken to a safer place, officials have said.
