Video game developer and publisher Take-Two Interactive revealed Tuesday that it plans to acquire mobile games studio Playdots for $192 million.
Founded in 2013, the New York-based outfit is known for puzzle gameTwo Dots, which has been downloaded over 80 million times since its launch six years ago.
It's also behindDots andDots & Co.Nir Efrat, whopreviously worked as the head of franchises and studios atCandy Crush creator King, leads operations as the company's CEO. "Our acquisition of Playdots will diversify and strengthen further Take-Two's mobile game offerings, particularly within the casual, free-to-play segment," said Michael Worosz, executive vp and head of strategy and independent publishing for Take-Two.
