Tennis rivals Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic exchange insults in ugly social media row
tennis doubles partners Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic have been embroiled in a hostile war of words on social media this week with the Australian pair at loggerheads over their respective legacies. Kyrgios, 27 and Tomic, 29, were close friends as recently as 2019 having grown up on the tour together and both hailing from eastern Australia - as well as being aged just two years apart. However, Kyrgios said he was left bemused by trash talk from Tomic last year which included the older of the pair saying he was better in his prime and mentioning a victory in their only clash against each other at the 2019 Kooyong Classic.Tomic was ranked as high at 17th in the world before his recent slip down the rankings to 416, and has been struggling on the second-tier Challenge Tour.Tomic, who was a quarter-finalist at Wimbledon back in 2011, has banked just shy of £5million in prize money since turning professional in 2008.Kyrgios, on the other hand, has ranked as high as 13 back in 2016, is now at 77 with his Grand Slam solo best performance a quarter-final at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon.Kyrgios, who has won the Grand Slam doubles tournament at the Australian Open alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis earlier this year, has banked over £7.5million since turning pro in 2013. Who has the better tennis legacy? Give us your verdict in the comments section After a fan claimed Tomic was better than him on Instagram last week, Kyrgios said: "Better in what way?"I’ve got a higher career high (ranking).
