Pete Doherty has revealed in a new interview that he “nearly lost my feet” while he was battling drug addiction.The Libertines musician has now been clean for over two years, and has spoken about that period, as well as his years battling addiction, in an interview with The Mirror.“I was really pushing the limits,” Doherty recalled about his addiction. “There were a few close calls really. I nearly lost my feet and horrible things like that.“It was very close, just because of the injecting.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have shared ‘Magenta Mountain’, the second single to be lifted from forthcoming album ‘Omnium Gatherum’ ahead of its release in April.The band’s latest is a spiralling, fuzzed-out odyssey with blistering guitars and glistening keys, as frontman Stu Mackenzie describes the titular, mystical summit. “You will say I’m crazy / I will go on my way because it’s what I need,” Mackenzie sings.

Manic Street Preachers performed ‘If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next’ at the benefit ‘Concert For Ukraine’ this evening (March 29).Announced earlier this month, the two-hour benefit show is raising money for the Disasters Emergency Committee‘s (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and is being held at Resorts World Arena, Birmingham.The band performed the 1998 single, which was inspired by the Spanish Civil War, and the idealism of Welsh volunteers who joined the left-wing International Brigades fighting for the Spanish Republic against Francisco Franco’s military rebels, with an orchestra.Bassist Nicky Wire also had his microphone draped in a feather boa in the Ukraine flag colours.

Allie X has cancelled her upcoming US tour due to illness.The musician revealed on social media yesterday (March 28) the illness that inspired her work ‘Cape God’ would prevent her from touring across April and May.Allie X wrote on Twitter: “I’m terribly saddened to announce that I will be canceling my upcoming US tour. Ironically, the same autoimmune illness that inspired ‘Cape God’ has flared up and has left me bedridden and under a doctor’s care.

Placebo have opened up about how they “thought the band was over” after their previous “retrospective” tour.The band spoke to NME about how touring since their 2013 album release, ‘Loud Like Love’ left them creatively spent. The tours that followed the release of the album were slated to mark their 20th anniversary as a band and tour a second ‘best of’ collection.“We weren’t particularly comfortable with the prospect of doing a retrospective and retrospective tour,” Brian Molko told NME.

Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke has criticised the lack of punishment given to Prime Minister Boris Johnson over the “partygate” scandal at Downing Street.Earlier this year, a report by Sue Gray revealed that 16 separate alleged gatherings were being investigated in Number 10. Gray later concluded that some of these events “should not have been allowed to take place.”She went on to say “too little thought” was given to public health concerns and confirmed that the Metropolitan Police was investigating 12 of these events, on eight separate dates for alleged coronavirus rule-breaking.That included the 20 May 2020 “bring your own booze” event in Downing Street’s garden and the PM’s birthday on June 19, 2020.She went onto say “there were failures of leadership and judgment by different parts of No 10 and the Cabinet Office at different times.”Speaking about the scandal to NME, Okereke has criticised the response and lack of culpability for the alleged events.“Boris has been proved to lie to Parliament and nothing has happened,” he told NME.

Slaves drummer Isaac Holman has announced details of his debut solo album, which will be released under the name Baby Dave.‘Monkey Brain’ will be self-released on April 22, and features instrumental and production contributions from Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn as well new single ’29’.It follows the project’s first single ‘Too Shy For Tennis’, which was released last summer and was also assisted by Albarn.’29’ was written when Holman challenged himself to compose a track during an uneventful coach journey. Mira Calix has died, her label Warp Records has confirmed.
