Ed Harcourt has shared his latest single ‘Deathless’, a haunting track from his forthcoming LP ‘El Magnifico’.‘Deathless’ is the second single to be released from the forthcoming LP, following ‘Strange Beauty‘. “I’ve been dying to live for something / It’s better than dying for nothing / I want to be deathless / want to be deathless” he sings over a haunting and pounding beat.Directed by Steve Gullick, the song’s accompanying black-and-white video features Harcourt standing still and singing in the middle of the desert under trees and next to cacti and agave plants.Speaking of the song in a press release, Harcourt said: “Written in a mad fever dream one night, this is a darker and heavier track from the record; basically it’s my attempt to write ‘Who Wants To Live Forever’ but if it was trying to punch it’s way out of a metal box.”He continued: “Absolutely blessed to have a brilliantly woozy string arrangement from Fiona Brice (John Grant / Placebo).

Ed Harcourt has announced his new album ‘El Magnifico’ and shared the first single ‘Strange Beauty’.The UK singer-songwriter will release ‘El Magnifico’ on March 29, 2024 via his own imprint, Deathless Recordings. Finishing touches were made alongside producer Dave Izumi Lynch at Eastbourne’s Echo Zoo Studio.Speaking about the new track in a press statement, Harcourt described it as “a song that uses visceral imagery to convey that classic old feeling of love and the immense power it has”.He continued: “I think that even after being a reckless, naive romantic after all these years, I still want to describe how violently mad it can make one feel.

Check out the track below.Shared today (April 26), the new single follows a series of teasers shared by Harvey on social media, and follows on from her last full-length LP with 2016’s ‘The Hope Six Demolition Project’.According to the double Mercury Prize-winning artist, ‘I Inside The Old Year Dying’, was written over a period of three weeks, although stemmed from ideas dating back to 2017 when she felt she had lost her connection with music.Seeking to revive her connection with songwriting, the inspiration for the new tracks was uncovered following advice from film-maker Steve McQueen, who told her to ignore the ‘process of writing an album’, and instead rediscover why she first fell in love with “words, images and music”.The album will see the singer-songwriter return to her roots – inspired by the likes of Nina Simone and Bob Dylan – and provide fans with “a resting space, a solace, a comfort, a balm” which is created to feel “timely for the times we’re in.”Today also sees Harvey share the first single from the LP, ‘A Child’s Question, August’.

PJ Harvey has shared that she has been back in the studio with her longtime collaborators John Parish and Flood.Earlier this week, the musician shared via her social media and her newsletter that she was making a new playlist available on her Spotify.The playlist features “tracks from her catalogue produced by John Parish and Flood,” and comes in at just under 40 minutes.Writing in her newsletter, Harvey said: “I have recently been in the studio with John Parish and Flood, my closest musical partners for nearly 30 years.
