Spoon have announced details of their first London show in five years, with frontman Britt Daniel talking to NME about their forthcoming tour with The Black Keys, covering David Bowie and how he should have ended up in the Meet Me In The Bathroom documentary.The Texas indie veterans will be performing at London’s Islington Assembly Hall on June 20 as a one-off headline show in support of their Grammy-nominated 2022 album ‘Lucifer On The Sofa’, and ahead of their UK arena tour with The Black Keys.“It’s just been too long since we played in London,” Daniel told NME. “Alex [Fischel,  keys and guitar] and I were over there last year doing some acoustic things in shops but I think we can all agree that five years have gone by since Spoon played a gig in London, and that’s too long.”We caught up with Daniel, to talk about the show, the arena tour, Bowie, indie legacy and more.Britt: “Yeah, it’s his birthday.

Ethan Shanfeld For nearly three decades, Spoon has been quietly building one of modern rock’s most robust discographies. Over the years the Austin outfit, founded by frontman Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno, has put out multiple alternative hits, including “Inside Out,” “Sister Jack,” “The Underdog” and “Do You,” and scored a handful of Top 5 albums on the Billboard rock charts. Released in February, the band’s first studio album in five years, “Lucifer on the Sofa,” seems a solid Grammy contender in the alternative and rock categories. Coming off a North American tour and ahead of the release of companion remix album “Lucifer on the Moon” (featuring “Sofa” songs reworked by Adrian Sherwood), Daniel spoke with Variety about the state of rock in 2022, the problems with touring during COVID and why he mourns the golden age of radio.

Interpol and Spoon have announced a co-headlined coast-to-coast North American tour,  ‘Lights, Camera, Factions’. Tickets will be available hereThe tour kicks off on August 25 in Asbury Park at The Stone Pony Summer Stage and ends with a two-night stint at Portland, OR’s Pioneer Square on September 17 and 18.

Spoon have shared a new remix EP containing three alternate versions of their song ‘Wild’, including a remix by Jack Antonoff.Antonoff co-wrote the original song, which appeared on latest Spoon album ‘Lucifer On The Sofa’. His new rendition of ‘Wild’ is a little cleaner than the version that appears on the album, featuring Antonoff’s crisp pop production throughout.Antonoff’s remix is included along with a dub rework courtesy of reggae legend Dennis Bovell, and a “trashy” version that turns up the fuzz.

Spoon have shared their latest single ‘My Babe’ – you can hear the new track below.The song is the final preview of the band’s upcoming new album ‘Lucifer On The Sofa’, which is set for release on Friday (February 11) via Matador Records. Wilco have concluded their Sky Blue Sky festival in Mexico with guest appearances from Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus and Spoon frontman Britt Daniel during their headlining set.The band brought out Malkmus to sing lead vocals on a cover of Pavement’s 1994 single ‘Cut Your Hair’, a song Wilco have covered several times over the years. Daniel, meanwhile, was enlisted on vocals and acoustic guitar during a performance of ‘Kamera’, lifted from Wilco’s 2001 album ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’.
