Spoon have announced details of their first London show in five years, with frontman Britt Daniel talking to NME about their forthcoming tour with The Black Keys, covering David Bowie and how he should have ended up in the Meet Me In The Bathroom documentary.The Texas indie veterans will be performing at London’s Islington Assembly Hall on June 20 as a one-off headline show in support of their Grammy-nominated 2022 album ‘Lucifer On The Sofa’, and ahead of their UK arena tour with The Black Keys.“It’s just been too long since we played in London,” Daniel told NME. “Alex [Fischel,  keys and guitar] and I were over there last year doing some acoustic things in shops but I think we can all agree that five years have gone by since Spoon played a gig in London, and that’s too long.”We caught up with Daniel, to talk about the show, the arena tour, Bowie, indie legacy and more.Britt: “Yeah, it’s his birthday.

Spoon have shared a new remix EP containing three alternate versions of their song ‘Wild’, including a remix by Jack Antonoff.Antonoff co-wrote the original song, which appeared on latest Spoon album ‘Lucifer On The Sofa’. His new rendition of ‘Wild’ is a little cleaner than the version that appears on the album, featuring Antonoff’s crisp pop production throughout.Antonoff’s remix is included along with a dub rework courtesy of reggae legend Dennis Bovell, and a “trashy” version that turns up the fuzz.

Spoon have cancelled a US show in Iowa as a result of the state’s lack of a vaccine mandate.The group were due to perform at Iowa’s Des Moines’ Hoyt Sherman Place on September 9, but in a post on their Instagram account yesterday (August 22), a statement revealed that the event has now been cancelled.Iowa is one of 20 Republican states in US which this year banned proof of COVID-19 vaccination requirements by businesses or government entities.The statement read: “In just two weeks we’ll be heading out for our first run of shows in quite a while. It’s one of the greatest parts of being in a band – getting out there and getting to play real music with real instruments in front of real people.
