Arcade Fire have shared a new video for ‘Unconditional I (Lookout Kid)’, filled with the tube men that have appeared at their recent live shows – watch it below.The track, shared last month, is the second single from the band’s sixth album, ‘WE’, which came out last week (May 6).The video centres around a host of inflatable tube men, which have also danced around while the band played the song at a number of recent shows at Coachella, in New York and at London’s KOKO.Speaking to NME for last week’s Big Read cover feature, frontman Win Butler was reminded of a scene from the Coachella set, when one of the tube men didn’t inflate properly and needed a kick in order to begin dancing with his friends.“I think when we were making these songs, we weren’t sure what world we were making it for,” he responded.“There’s so many precarious things in the world and so much to have anxiety about, but I’ve been trying to really appreciate these moments when I’m in them. When the world is a beautiful place, I’m trying to allow myself to appreciate it in a way that I wouldn’t have before.”Butler added: “The concept of the video for ‘…Lookout Kid’ is that one of those tube men is depressed and their whole family is happy around them.”Watch Arcade Fire’s new video below.‘Unconditional I (Lookout Kid)’ was given its live debut last month during that surprise performance at the first weekend of Coachella 2022.

The Smile have shared the video for their new single ‘Thin Thing’ – watch below.The band – comprising Thom Yorke, his Radiohead bandmate Jonny Greenwood and Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner – formed last year and announced their debut album, ‘A Light For Attracting Attention’ last month.‘Thin Thing’ follows ‘You Will Never Work In Television Again’, ‘The Smoke’,  ‘Skrting On The Surface’ and ‘Pana-vision’, a track taken from the Peaky Blinders soundtrack.It arrives with a stop-motion animated video directed by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña, which took the pair six months to make.Speaking about the video, they said: “Hearing the song for the first time, we imagined a frenetic fluid that carries machines, pieces of human bodies and carnivorous plants.“When presenting the idea to the band, Thom told us about a dream that made him write the song. We believe the video is the conjunction of these two things.”‘A Light For Attracting Attention’ arrives this Friday (May 13) digitally, and June 17 physically, via XL Recordings.Produced and mixed by Nigel Godrich and mastered by Bob Ludwig, the 13-track album will feature strings by the London Contemporary Orchestra and a full brass section of contemporary UK jazz players including Byron Wallen, Theon and Nathaniel Cross, Chelsea Carmichael, Robert Stillman and Jason Yarde.

The Lounge Society have announced details of their debut album ‘Tired Of Liberty’, out this summer via Speedy Wunderground.The new album follows the band’s 2021 EP ‘Silk For The Starving’, which made NME’s list of the best EPs and mixtapes of last year. The Dan Carey-produced full-length will be released on August 26 and is being previewed today by a first single called ‘Blood Money’.Commenting on the new song, the band said: “’Blood Money’ is a reaction to the culture of greed that’s seeping into the corridors of power across the world. It’s a reminder that ultimately, we all suffer at the hands of self-serving elites, and it’s our personal perspective on the effects of dirty politics on the everyday lives of ourselves and people we know.“For us it’s a song that completely captures this record and us as a band.

Arcade Fire‘s Win Butler has discussed the divisive reputation of the band’s fifth album, 2017’s ‘Everything Now’, in a new interview with NME.Speaking to NME for last week’s Big Read cover feature, released on the same day as the band’s new record and ‘Everything Now’ follow-up, ‘WE’, Butler said he doesn’t think negatively of the band’s last album – while many fans and critics were left divided over it.“I don’t have any insecurity about that record,” Butler told NME. “I think a lot of journalism has become very ‘cut and paste’ and there needs to be some sort of storyline in interviews, so I’m happy for ‘Everything Now’ to take the hit and be maligned… Like, I know there needs to be a cliché and story and [‘WE’] is, like, ‘the comeback’.

The Charlatans have announced they will embark on a run of Australian and New Zealand shows later this year to mark their 32nd anniversary.They’ll be making the trip down this October for six shows, kicking off with one show in Auckland, New Zealand, on Thursday 6. They’ll then head to Australia, playing Sydney on Saturday 8, continuing through Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne before wrapping up in Perth on Saturday 15.The band will play a number of songs from across their career, with ‘The Only One I Know’, ‘Jesus Hairdo’, ‘Can’t Get Out Of Bed’, ‘One To Another’, ‘Love is The Key’, ‘Blackened Blue Eyes’ and more appearing on their setlist.

Blossoms have scored their third UK Number One album with ‘Ribbon Around The Bomb’, it has been confirmed.The Stockport band’s latest record follows their previous full-length releases, 2016’s ‘Blossoms’ and 2020’s ‘Foolish Loving Spaces’, in topping the Official UK Album Chart.As well as hitting the top spot on the main album chart, the new album has also claimed the Number One position on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart. Physical formats accounted for 90 per cent of ‘Ribbon Around The Bomb’’s total sales, the Official Charts Company has revealed.“It’s happened again! Arcade Fire have announced details of a new world tour, set to take place later this year in support of their new album ‘WE’.The band released the record – their sixth so far – earlier today (May 6) and will hit the road in September, following on from one-off dates in New Orleans, New York, Coachella, and London in the run-up to the LP’s release.The tour will kick off in Dublin on August 30, taking the group across the UK and into Europe throughout September. The North American leg of the tour will begin in Washington D.C.

Arcade Fire have opened up to NME about the recent departure of Will Butler from the band.Arcade Fire were founded by multi-instrumentalist Win Butler, Will’s brother, in Montreal in the early 2000s, with Butler joining in 2004 ahead of their debut album ‘Funeral’.After the band returned in March with news of their sixth album ‘WE’, and a video for its first single ‘The Lightning I, II’, Will confirmed on social media that he had left Arcade Fire.In a series of tweets posted on March 19, Will revealed that he had left the band at the end of last year, saying that it was “time for new things” and that the band remain his “friends and family”.“Hi friends— I’ve left Arcade Fire,” he wrote. “I left at the end of last year, after the new record was complete.

Kasabian have announced details of their first new album since the departure of former frontman Tom Meighan. Wolf Alice have delivered a cover of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard‘s song ‘Sense’, performing their rendition on Australian radio station, triple j.Aired today (May 6), Wolf Alice’s version of the song is sultry and smooth, capturing the laid-back feeling of the original. Driven by silky guitars, stirring keys and singer Ellie Rowsell’s soft vocals, they breathe new life into the 2015 cut, lifted from King Gizz’s ‘Paper Mâché Dream Balloon’ LP.“I think they’re such a prolific band and so talented that they can have these hidden pop gems, in my opinion, that it’s really clever,” said bassist Theo Ellis in a post-performance interview.

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have announced a tour in their home country of Australia for this October in support of new album ‘Endless Rooms’.The tour will begin October 13 in Torquay before continuing along to Fremantle, replacing a show that was planned for March of this year but postponed due to border restrictions at the time.From there, the tour will head to Margaret River, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney. Wolf Alice have announced plans to release a new EP featuring lullaby versions of select songs from their ‘Blue Weekend’ album.Titled ‘Blue Lullaby’, the release will feature four reworked tracks from their 2021 album including new versions of ‘No Hard Feelings’, ‘Lipstick On The Glass’, ‘How Can I Make It OK?’ and ‘The Last Man On Earth’, the latter of which you hear below now.“’Blue Lullaby’ came about because we wanted to strip down some of our more emotional songs from ‘Blue Weekend’ and see if they hit any different,” said frontwoman Ellie Rowsell.“We also had a really nice moment during the ‘Blue Weekend’ campaign singing one of our songs with a choir and we wanted to experience that again with a few other songs, especially as there are a lot of harmonies and a lot of vocal layering on ‘Blue Weekend’.“Hearing multiple voices singing together is an unparalleled feeling to me so I’m happy we got to record this experience and I hope people enjoy it.”‘Blue Lullaby’ will be released on June 24 via Dirty Hit.
