The Rolling Stones have confirmed that Echo And The Bunnymen will support them during their gig at Anfield in Liverpool next month.The show will form part of the Stones’ ‘SIXTY’ UK and European anniversary tour, which kicks off in Madrid on June 1 and visits cities including London, Amsterdam and Paris.The Stones have announced this morning (May 17) that Echo And The Bunnymen, who hail from Liverpool, will support them at Anfield on June 9.

Gang of Youths‘ North American tour in support of latest album ‘Angel in Realtime’ led them to Philadelphia last Thursday night (May 12), where a “serious electrical issue” meant the full-band set they’d planned couldn’t go ahead.The day of the show, the band shared a statement on their social media explaining that one of their crew members had suffered “a serious electric shock” during soundcheck at the venue, the Theatre of Living Arts.Refunds were given to all ticketholders, but rather than cancel the show altogether, they announced that frontman Dave Le’aupepe would be playing an acoustic set from the venue’s floor.IMPORTANT MESSAGE RE TONIGHT’S SHOW. pic.twitter.com/n5ndtardnA— gang of youths (@gangofyouths) May 12, 2022That evening, Le’aupepe played a 10-song acoustic set, accompanied on most songs by newest member Tom Hobden on violin.

Gorillaz have announced details of a North American tour in September and October.These gigs will be the Damon Albarn-led group’s first US and Canadian live dates since 2018 and extends their ongoing world tour, which is currently in South America.Albarn and his 14-piece live band – who will be “aided and abetted by a varying cast of guest performers” – will bring Gorillaz to life across 21 arena shows in the US and Canada, kicking off in Vancouver on September 11.The run will visit such cities as Seattle, Salt Lake City, LA, Austin, Chicago and Boston before wrapping up in Miami on October 23. EARTHGANG will support Gorillaz on all dates except Orlando and Miami, where Jungle will be special guests.Tickets for Gorillaz’s North American tour will go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (May 20), and you’ll be able to buy tickets here.

Phoebe Bridgers has today (May 16) shared a new music video for her track ‘Sidelines’ – listen to it below.The track, which is Bridgers’ first new original music in two years, is the featured track for the new BBC drama Conversations With Friends, based on Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel.Bridgers wrote the track with her bandmate and collaborator Marshall Vore and Ruby Rain Henley. According to a press release, ‘Sidelines’ will be Bridgers’ only original new song release of the year.The music video for ‘Sidelines’ features footage of Bridgers recording the song alongside scenes from the show, which feature actors Joe Alwyn, Alison Oliver, Jemima Kirke and Sasha Lane.

Jarvis Cocker says it’s still a “mystery” who he wrote Pulp hit ‘Common People’ about, but is determined to find out.In the iconic 1995 song’s opening lines, Cocker sings of a woman who “came from Greece [and] had a thirst for knowledge,” studying sculpture at London’s St. Martin’s College.Despite the song’s success – it was named NME‘s Best Song Of The ’90s – Cocker has revealed that he has no memory of the identity of the person who inspired the song.Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s This Cultural Life (via The Mirror), Cocker addressed claims that the inspiration was Danae Stratou, a Greek woman who attended St Martin’s at the same time as Jarvis, but confirmed that “it wasn’t her because she had blonde hair and the girl had dark hair.”Of the origin of the song, Cocker said: “We went to the pub and she just came out with that she wanted to live in Hackney with common people.“In 2011 we played at St Martin’s and someone showed me a picture on their phone and said, ‘Is that the girl you wrote the song about?’ I went, ‘Yeah, I think it is’” he remembered.“Unfortunately, I didn’t ask them for the picture and I can’t remember who showed it to me so it’s still a mystery.”Back in 2015, Deborah Bone, the inspiration behind Pulp‘s 1995 hit ‘Disco 2000’, died at the age of 51.

Matt Helders has spoken about Arctic Monkeys’ upcoming new album, saying that musically it “picks up where ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’ left off”.The Sheffield four-piece have yet to officially announce the follow-up to their May 2018 album, but new music from the band is expected to arrive this year given that the Monkeys are heading out on tour in August.AM drummer Helders has now given fans an indication about what to expect from their next record. Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood’s upcoming art exhibition Test Specimens is now being previewed online – you can check out the full catalogue of drawings below.Test Specimens, an exhibition of 60 drawings by the Radiohead frontman and Donwood (who has created the cover art for all of Radiohead’s albums since ‘The Bends’ in 1995), will go on display at 8 Duke Street in London from May 25-29.The artwork was all created by Yorke and Donwood between 1999 and 2001 when the pair were working on art for Radiohead’s albums ‘Kid A’ (2000) and ‘Amnesiac’ (2001).“Test Specimens offers an extraordinary, intimate glimpse into the minds of these creative geniuses at a pivotal moment in British cultural history,” curator Siobhan Andrews Kapoor said in a statement.

The Charlatans‘ Tim Burgess has said that Nottingham’s Rock City venue waived their traditional cut of merch sales during the band’s show at the venue last weekend.Burgess has been a frequent voice of opposition against venues that take a percentage of merchandise sales from artists, saying last year that “the whole system needs addressing”.After The Charlatans played the legendary Nottingham venue on Saturday night (May 14), Burgess tweeted that the venue had decided to give the percentage of money they would ordinarily take from merch sales and give it back to the band, saying it was “only fair”.Burgess tweeted: “An amazing thing happened last night. Jenny Lewis has announced a run of US tour dates, scheduled for this September.The former Rilo Kiley singer will kick off her tour at the Broadberry in Richmond, Virginia on September 17, eventually wrapping up on September 30 at Wildwood Revival festival in Arnoldsville, Georgia. Pete Doherty has discussed his recovery from drug issues, saying he has “managed to get out of the addictive cycle”.The Libertines frontman has been clean for over two years, and recently revealed in an interview that he “nearly lost my feet” while he was battling drug addiction.In a new interview with The Guardian, Doherty said he is “surprised I’m not dead” due to his drug abuse, adding: “I’ve hedged my bets with all the scrapes, skirmishes and disasters, but I do believe in corny, happy Hollywood endings. I’m not a good guy, but I’m not evil.”Doherty added: “I’ve managed to get out of the addictive cycle – which I maintained all along I was quite happy in – but I was pretty fucked, and I’ve never really admitted to that.
