Florence + The Machine performed their recent single ‘King’ on yesterday’s episode (May 12) of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon – check out the video below.The London band appeared on the US chat show for the second night after playing ‘My Love’ during Wednesday’s instalment (May 11), which also included an interview with frontwoman Florence Welch.Welch and co. delivered a dramatic live rendition of the Jack Antonoff co-produced/co-written song, the first to be lifted from F+TM’s fifth album ‘Dance Fever’ (out today, May 13).Watch Florence + The Machine perform ‘King’ on Fallon here:Elsewhere on Wednesday’s episode, Welch joined Fallon for the ‘Audience Suggestion Box’ segment of his show – where she, Fallon and Jimmy Buffett sang the latter’s 1977 song ‘Margaritaville’ – before speaking to Fallon more in-depth about the making of her new record.In a four-star review, NME said that ‘Dance Fever’ boasts “gorgeously expressive songs”, adding: “This 14-track collection reflects a new sense of resolve, packing an invigorated spirit into powerful, sneakily thrilling pop.”Florence + The Machine will showcase the album on a UK and Ireland headline tour in November.

Arcade Fire performed as part of a live-stream to unveil the first image of the black hole at the centre of the galaxy – watch below.The picture was produced by a global research team called the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) Collaboration, using observations from a worldwide network of radio telescopes. Known as Sagittarius A*, the object is four million times the mass of the Sun.“These unprecedented observations have greatly improved our understanding of what happens at the very centre of our galaxy, and offer new insights on how these giant black holes interact with their surroundings,” said EHT Project Scientist Geoffrey Bower.Coincidentally, ‘Sagittarius A*’ is the subtitle of a song on Arcade Fire’s new album ‘WE’ (‘End Of The Empire IV’).

Gentle Sinners – the new project from Aidan Moffat of Arab Strap and James Graham of The Twilight Sad – have shared the latest single from their upcoming debut album. Listen to ‘Landfill’ below.‘Landfill’ follows recent single ‘Face To Fire (After Nyman)’, which was released in March alongside the announcement of the album, ‘These Actions Cannot Be Undone’.The track is the album’s rousing finale, exploring the theme of mental health with a backdrop of synths and strings as Graham repeatedly chants “you’re an accident waiting to happen”.It arrives with a cinematic video, directed by Kieran Howe, who commented: “The music is so full of sobering honesty, as a director I felt I couldn’t shy away from my inner most feelings.

It’s scheduled to arrive on July 8 via New York label Temporary Residence outside of Australia and New Zealand, where it will be released by Boulet’s own label, Grupo.Party Dozen have also announced a trio of album launch shows for ‘The Real Work’, playing shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in July.

Thao has shared a cover of Björk‘s ‘Human Behaviour’ for Mental Health Awareness Week – watch her rendition below.The singer-songwriter (real name Thao Nguyen) has teamed up with non-profit organisation Sounds Of Saving (SoS) to deliver a new rendition of Björk’s 1993 track, the lead single from the Icelandic singer’s debut studio album, ‘Debut’.“I chose Bjork’s ‘Human Behaviour’ because to me it marks a renewal and a revival of my own interest in music, in my own recommitment to the joy of music,” Thao said of her cover (via Stereogum).“Growing up, most of the access to music I had was only the radio. I didn’t have an in to music that wasn’t easily accessible to me, you know? Death Cab For Cutie have announced details of their tenth studio album, ‘Asphalt Meadows’ – listen to first single ‘Roman Candles’ below.The follow-up to 2018’s ‘Thank You For Today’ will be released on September 10 via Atlantic. The band’s last release came in the form of ‘The Georgia EP’, a collection of five covers which came out in 2020 via Bandcamp and was later made available on streaming platforms.

Ezra Furman has announced details of a new full-length album – get all the details on ‘All Of Us Flames’ below.The singer-songwriter will release her new LP on August 26 via Bella Union, and it’s being previewed today (May 11) by first single ‘Forever In Sunset’, which you can hear below. The record will also feature the recently-shared single ‘Point Me Toward The Real’.Furman describes the new album as the final in a trilogy of full-length records that began with 2018’s ‘Transangelic Exodus’ and includes the following year’s ‘Twelve Nudes’ album.

Angel Olsen has shared a trailer for Big Time, a film that will accompany her forthcoming sixth album of the same name.The film is set to premiere at London cinema Screen On The Green on Tuesday May 17, before screening across two nights in Los Angeles – at the Grammy Museum on Wednesday June 1, and at Brain Dead Studios on Thursday June 2. Also on June 2, Big Time will be streamed via the Twitch channel of Amazon Music.The trailer, released today (May 10), depicts Olsen walking along a forest trail and speaking to an older woman, before it cuts to a man walking down a hallway and a car driving an otherwise-empty road.

Yard Act have collaborated with mental health charity Mind on a new poem for Mental Health Awareness Week.Frontman James Smith shared the poem on social media, explaining how he worked with Mel, a young woman who suffered from an eating disorder (bulimia), to create the poem.“When we first met on zoom, I instantly clicked with her,” Smith said of meeting Mel. “Myself and Mel talked for an hour or so about her life and the condition she lives with.

Diana Ross has teamed up with Tame Impala for a new track called ‘Turn Up The Sunshine’.The collaborative song will appear on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for the latest film in the Despicable Me franchise, Minions: The Rise Of Gru.Produced by Jack Antonoff, the star-studded 19-song album also features the likes of St. Vincent, Phoebe Bridgers, Brockhampton and Antonoff’s band Bleachers.

Kasabian have announced details of a surprise warm-up show in Aberdeen this month.Last week, the band announced details of their first new album since the departure of former frontman Tom Meighan.Having dropped the first taster of their new direction with the single ‘ALYGATYR‘ last year, the band – consisting of chief songwriter Serge Pizzorno, bassist Chris Edwards, drummer Ian Matthews and guitarist Tim Carter (following the departure of Meighan after he was convicted of assaulting his then-girlfriend-now-wife in 2020) – the group shared new single ‘SCRIPTVRE’ last week.Ahead of the band’s tour this summer, they’ve now also announced that they’re playing the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen on May 27, with tickets on general sale at 10am on May 13.Kasabian will also pay dates in Belgium, Germany, Netherlands and France. Pale Waves have announced details of their third studio album, ‘Unwanted’, with the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Who Am I?’ due to be released on August 12 via Dirty Hit.To coincide with the announcement, the band have shared the album’s first single ‘Lies’, which was previously teased last month.The group shared two previews on their official TikTok account, with the song’s chorus (“You called it love but it never had a feeling/ Ripped out my heart and left it bleeding“) playing over the videos.The track was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Zakk Cervini, who has worked with the likes of Blink-182, Halsey and Machine Gun Kelly.
