Pale Waves have announced a new single called ‘Lies’ – you can check out a teaser below.The Manchester band confirmed late last year that they had finished their third studio album, which will follow on from 2021’s ‘Who Am I?’.Heather Baron-Gracie and co. subsequently debuted an unreleased track called ‘Jealousy’ on their UK headline tour in February.

Thom Yorke has shared a new mix for his Sonos radio show, In The Absence Thereof, featuring an eclectic roster of artists including IDLES and Miles Davis.The Radiohead frontman began curating a station for the streaming service in 2020 and has since shared numerous wide-ranging playlists.The latest mix, ‘In The Absence Thereof… Mix 7’, features artists like IDLES, Miles Davis, Bibio and Sun Ra, who have all had some influence on Yorke over the years. “Mix 7 is my latest mix or compilation of music and sound that has moved me deeply by other artists I respect and who inspire me,” he said.“Listening to music has changed for me recently, I find myself asking what is music or any art in such a time of death, violence and horror? I guess it can only try to bear witness somehow.”He added: “There are no words to express seeing war Ukraine, in Europe in the 21st century.

Fontaines D.C. have scored their first Number One album in the UK and Ireland with their third record, ‘Skinty Fia’.The album, which was released last week (April 22), follows the Dublin band’s previous two efforts – 2019’s ‘Dogrel’ and 2020’s ‘A Hero’s Death’ – landing in the Top 10.‘Skinty Fia’ outsold the band’s closest competition in the Official UK Albums Chart, Ed Sheeran’s ‘=’, two-to-one.

Primal Scream have sold a 50 per cent stake of their song rights to BMG, along with their neighbouring rights.The band’s frontman Bobby Gillespie, guitarist Andrew Innes and the estate of late bassist, guitarist and keyboardist Robert Young, have all struck a deal with the publishing arm of the label.BMG now owns 50 per cent of the three musicians’ song rights to the entire Primal Scream back catalogue, from their 1987 debut ‘Screamadelica’ to their latest album, 2016’s ‘Chaosmosis’. The label has also purchased the trio’s neighbouring rights – the public performance right that is paid to performing artists, rather than a song’s writers or publishers – in full.“Primal Scream are one of the most influential bands of the past 30 years with a cultural resonance which continues today,” Alistair Norbury, BMG’s president of repertoire and marketing UK, said.

Tegan and Sara have returned with a new single called ‘Fucking Up What Matters’ – you can listen to it below.The track marks the first material from the Canadian duo since they signed to the New York indie label Mom+Pop Music, which is also home to the likes of Courtney Barnett, Sleater-Kinney and Lucius.Produced by John Congleton (Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen, Future Islands), ‘Fucking Up What Matters’ serves as a taste of Tegan and Sara’s 10th studio album, the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Hey, I’m Just Like You’.“‘Fucking Up What Matters’ felt like an ode to the moment in your life when you realise that you have most, if not all of the things you wanted and you start to think about what would happen if you just walked away from it all,” explained Tegan Quin.“It’s the moment in the middle of the night when you start to daydream about something else, something you never imagined.”She continued: “It’s the feeling you have when you think you might have hit a new low, and yet you’ve never felt so good. Hard-Fi‘s upcoming London reunion show sold out in just 10 minutes after tickets went on sale this morning (April 29).As announced last weekend, the Staines band will perform their first gig since 2014 at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on October 1, 2022. It’ll mark the belated 15th anniversary of their 2005 debut album, ‘Stars Of CCTV’.Tickets for the performance went live at 10am BST following an O2 pre-sale on Wednesday (April 27).

Liam Gallagher has shared a preview of a track from his upcoming third album ‘C’mon You Know’ – listen below.The former Oasis frontman is set to release the record on May 27 via Warner, and has already dropped the singles ‘Everything’s Electric’, ‘Better Days’ and the ‘C’mon You Know’ title track.Gallagher debuted another cut called ‘The World Is In Need’ during an intimate 17-song  gig in Blackburn on Wednesday night (April 27).Taking to Twitter yesterday morning (April 28), LG posted a two-minute-20-second clip of another forthcoming tune.“Work your every finger to the bone/ Try to lift the weight of this world on your own/ You’ve got nothing, nowhere,” Gallagher sings in the subdued first verse. Later, strings, keys and drums are introduced before the track enters into a Beatles-esque breakdown.The snippet of the as-yet-unknown song then cuts out, with Gallagher providing no further information in the tweet.

Wilco have announced that they’ll be releasing a new double-disc album next month called ‘Cruel Country’.The band’s 12th studio album is set to arrive on May 27 via dBpm Records. This is the same weekend as their Solid Sound Festival in North Adams, MA, where the band will perform the new record for the first time.The title was inspired by the idea that Wilco were a country band when they first started out. “There have been elements of country music in everything we’ve ever done,” frontman Jeff Tweedy said in a press release.

Florence Welch has said her upcoming new album ‘Dance Fever’ sounds like her 2009 debut ‘Lungs’ but “with more self-knowledge”.Following on from 2018’s ‘High As Hope’, Florence + The Machine will release their fifth studio effort on May 13 via Polydor. It was produced by Welch along with Jack Antonoff and Glass Animals frontman Dave Bayley.During a recent interview with British Vogue, Welch explained: “[‘Dance Fever’ is] ‘Lungs’ with more self-knowledge.”She continued: “I’m kind of winking at my own creation.

Noel Gallagher has spoken of a shift in style for his next High Flying Birds album, revealing that it’ll have a largely “orchestral” sound.The former Oasis musician released his most recent NGHFB record, ‘Who Built The Moon?’, back in 2017 before sharing a best-of compilation called ‘We’re On Our Way Now’ last summer.Gallagher then shared a demo of a new track, ‘Trying To Find A World That’s Been And Gone: Part 1’, on New Year’s Day (January 1). He revealed at the time that he’d finished writing and demoing the fourth High Flying Birds LP just before Christmas.During a recent interview with the Daily Star newspaper’s ‘Wired’ column, Gallagher shed some more light on his forthcoming full-length project, which he said he’s been recording since January.“There is a track on the album called ‘Dead To The World’, which is one of the best songs I have ever written,” he explained (via Music-News.COM).

Wolf Parade have announced a series of shows where they will play their 2005 debut ‘Apologies To The Queen Mary’ in full – with the same line-up that recorded it.The tour, announced earlier this week (April 26), will see the return of keyboardist Hadji Bakara to the band for the first time in 14 years. Bakara left the group in 2008, shortly after the release of their second album ‘At Mount Zoomer’, to pursue an academic career.
