Maggie Rogers has shared another cut from her forthcoming album ‘Surrender’, this time in the form of new single ‘Horses’.Arriving today (July 15), the cut starts with soft acoustic guitar and Rogers’ sweet vocals, wrapped in wistful production. “Took me all this long to figure out it’s not worth it if I can’t touch the ground / I see horses running wild I wish I could feel like that for just a minute,” she sings in the bridge, building up to the song’s honeyed chorus.The Maryland singer produced and wrote the track with Thomas Edward Percy Hull, known professionally as Kid Harpoon. Panda Bear has revealed he’s teamed up with Spacemen 3′s Sonic Boom on a new album called ‘Resist’.The album will be released on August 12 and has been previewed today (July 14) with a Troggs-sampling new single, ‘Go On’. Radiohead‘s ‘Bloom’ performed by Thom Yorke has been shared for a Greenpeace advert during Shark Week.Yorke has contributed to the campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the plight of the global shark population, in a partnership with the environmental charity Greenpeace.The description for the advert reads: “In the last 50 years the global shark population has plummeted by 70 percent,” the video description notes. “Sharks are being wiped out by overfishing for profit.

Japanese Breakfast has told fans that she contributed vocals to her “fave band” The 1975‘s new song ‘Part Of The Band‘.The singer-songwriter, real name Michelle Zauner, wrote online that she “got to sing a little on this for my fave band” when linking to the video premiere of the band’s comeback single, which was released today (July 7).‘Part Of The Band’ is the first taste of The 1975’s fifth album, ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language‘, which was announced at the end of last month along with the tracklist.Other known collaborators on the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Notes On A Conditional Form’ include in-demand producer Jack Antonoff, who co-produced ‘Part Of The Band’.The 1975’s new album has been the subject of speculation for some time, with Healy poking fun at the prospect of “making another ‘classic record’” back in August 2021.The band will make their live return in August, playing two gigs as part of Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival. The gigs will mark the band’s first live shows since they performed in Dublin in March 2020.No release date has yet been given for ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’.

Julien Baker has announced a three-track EP of outtakes from her recent third album, ‘Little Oblivion’, alongside the release of an emotive new single titled ‘Guthrie’.The EP, titled ‘B-Sides’, will arrive on July 21 via Matador (pre-save it here), coinciding with the first date of her joint US tour with Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten.The record features three songs that were recorded during the studio sessions for ‘Little Oblivions’ but didn’t make the cut for the album’s final tracklist. Courtney Barnett has shared details of a new UK and Europe tour later this year.The Australian singer-songwriter will play 14 shows in support of her latest album, ‘Things Take Time, Take Time’, kicking things off at Munich’s Neue Theaterfabrik on October 28 before wrapping at London’s Roundhouse on November 13 for Pitchfork Music Festival.Earlier this month Barnett supported The Rolling Stones for their 60th anniversary show at BST in Hyde Park, London. Metric have spoken about how their new album ‘Formentera’ helped the band move forward through the uncertainty of the pandemic – while also reflecting on their two decades in music and the indie sleaze phenomenon.Speaking to NME in the run-up to the release of their eighth album, frontwoman Emily Haines described the new release, which arrives on Friday (July 8), as “probably the most important record that we can make other than our first album”.“Logistically, we could not get our band across the border and that was the longest we’ve gone without playing a show since we started,” Haines explained of working on the record during the pandemic. “There was a sense that this could actually be it – a lot of people are not going to bounce back in our industry.

Nick Cave is requesting footage from fans for an upcoming collaborative film to accompany his recent ‘Seven Psalms’ project.Released last month, the collection comprises seven spoken word cuts set to music that was created in collaboration with Warren Ellis as well as a concluding 12-minute piece, ‘Psalm Instrumental’.The record, which was produced by Cave alongside Luis Almau, came together during the sessions for Nick Cave & Warren Ellis‘ 2021 studio album ‘Carnage’.“While in lockdown I wrote a number of psalms, or small, sacred songs—one a day for a week,” Nick Cave explained in a statement.“The seven psalms are presented as one long meditation—on faith, rage, love, grief, mercy, sex and praise.
