Liam Gallagher praised her hit comedy series Motherland when the pair crossed paths at one of his recent shows.Co-written by Horgan, the BAFTA-winning sitcom follows a group of middle-class mums in west London as they attempt to navigate their chaotic lives and deal with primary school politics.It stars the likes of Anna Maxwell Martin (who plays Julia), Lucy Punch (Amanda) and Diane Morgan (Liz).During a new interview with NME, Horgan remembered receiving some unexpected love for the show while standing side-of-stage at Gallagher’s gig at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium this month.“I went to see Liam Gallagher play and as he was coming onstage, he came over to me and said, [imitating his northern accent] “‘Motherland! Fucking genius!” she explained.“And I thought: ‘What the fuck?!’ That was the last thing I expected. First of all, I never expect people to know me from Motherland, because I’m behind the scenes writing and secondly, I never thought Liam Gallagher would fit into its demographic.”Horgan continued: “I always thought it would be mums in Green Park who watched it, so I absolutely fucking loved that.”Motherland premiered on BBC Two back in 2016, and returned for its third and latest season in May 2021.

The Anchoress have teamed up for a new collaborative song and video, ‘Human Reciprocator’ – see it first on NME below.Described as being “politically charged”, the track was inspired by West Germany’s Krautrock movement in the 1970s as well as the “vocal expressiveness” of David Bowie‘s 1977 album ‘Low’.‘Human Reciprocator’ serves as the first preview of Band Spectra’s (aka Robert Manning) debut studio record, details of which are yet to be announced. It arrives with an official video directed by Callum Henderson.The Anchoress (aka Catherine Anne Davies) co-produced the single alongside Manning, with the pair delving into the “discontent, disillusionment, and anger over the current political landscape in the UK”.Davies explained: “Human Reciprocator was heavily inspired by an overdose on the toxic news cycle, ruminating on privilege and abuse of power in politics, deception, hypocrisy and the slow slide into a Britain steeped in poverty and a cost of living crisis while a political elite bluster and lie their way through a decade in power.“Growing up with periods of my childhood relying on free school meals I am increasingly horrified at the proliferation of reliance on food banks while those in power become ever more detached from the realities of the working classes.

Pete Doherty has revealed that he hopes The Libertines‘ long-awaited fourth album should be completed by the end of 2022.Doherty was speaking to NME just after The Libs stepped off stage from their opening performance on The Other Stage at Glastonbury 2022 last weekend, where the singer and guitarist spoke highly of the current mood in the camp – which was reflected in the joyous and buoyant nature of their set.“The chemistry is working to the original chemical formula, with the prosperity, harmony and advancement of the Albion’s dream and promise,” Doherty told NME.Looking to the future, Doherty confirmed that writing sessions in Jamaica were pencilled in for work on the long-awaited follow-up to 2015’s ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth‘.Having previously told NME that the record looked set to have an eclectic mix of styles in the same vein as The Clash’s ‘Sandinista’, Doherty explained: “There are lots of things on the table – some really good, strong and melodic rock’n’roll songs. Alex G has announced a slew of 2023 tour dates across Europe and the UK.The 13-date tour begins March 16 in Dublin, and will include dates in cities such as  Manchester, Leeds, and Bristol. Meanwhile, the tour’s European leg begins in Amsterdam on March 25, and will wrap up in Paris on April 6.

PJ Harvey has shared an update on the recording of her next studio album.In a new interview with Rolling Stone to discuss her new narrative poem novel Orlam, Harvey revealed that her upcoming album “took a long time to write to get right, but at least I feel very happy with it”.While it is currently unclear if the record has been finished, she shared with Rolling Stone that she is “very pleased with it” and that it is scheduled to release sometime in the summer next year.Talks of Harvey working on a new musical project first began in early February when the musician shared images of herself recording in a studio. The three images showed Harvey playing a guitar, fiddling with some guitar pedals, and sitting in front of a mic stand.Elsewhere in the interview, Harvey said she has recently been inspired by film soundtracks composed by the likes of Jonny Greenwood, Hildur Guðnadóttir and Ryuichi Sakamoto.When she’s not listening to film scores, Harvey has been exploring “Thom Yorke’s solo projects, but also his work with The Smile“.

Jamie T has announced details of a UK tour that’s set to take place in November.The singer/songwriter has returned to action in 2022, with his new album ‘The Theory of Whatever’ set for release on July 29 via Polydor Records.Jamie T will celebrate the new record with a nine-date UK tour in November, which will kick off in Newcastle on November 10.The tour will visit Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Sheffield, Manchester, London and Cardiff before wrapping up in Portsmouth on November 22.Alright then let's do it.
