Jenny Hval has been on an incredible run these past few years: In 2021, Lost Girls — her duo with her husband and creative partner, avant-guitarist Håvard Volden — released their expansive, experimental debut LP, Menneskekollektivet, The FADER’s 35th favorite album of the year. Last year, as a solo artist, she guested on The FADER Interview and released Classic Objects — an unprecedentedly poppy entry into her catalog, and our 15th favorite record of 2022.

Latter-day punk provocateurs cumgirl8 have signed with the venerated UK indie label 4AD — home of Big Thief, Deerhunter, Dry Cleaning, Holly Herndon, Jenny Hval, and many other FADER favorites past and present. To honor the occasion, they’ve released “cicciolina,” their first new single in nearly a year. Their most recent release, May 2022’s “dumb bitch,” was also a certified Song You Need.

Øya Festival has confirmed its full line-up for 2022, with the likes of H.E.R. and Little Simz joining the bill.The Norwegian festival will return to Oslo’s Tøyenparken from August 9-13 this year, with Gorillaz, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Florence + The Machine set to headline.Øya has now confirmed the final names on the line-up (which is split 50/50 between male and female artists) for their 2022 festival, with H.E.R., Little Simz, Fred Again.., Perfume Genius and Freddie Gibbs among the latest additions.Remi Wolf, Aldous Harding, Kings Of Convenience, Jenny Hval and CMAT are also set to perform at Øya in August.Day tickets for Øya Festival are on sale now, with weekend passes sold out.

Green Man Festival has announced over 70 new acts for their 2022 festival, with Kraftwerk, Beach House and Metronomy set to headline.The festival in Brecon Beacons, Wales had already confirmed that Michael Kiwanuka will co-headline their 2022 event. Jenny Hval is a notoriously complex, cryptic songwriter, but she says her forthcoming album, Classic Objects, is an attempt to "write simple stories." Announced today and due out March 11, the record will be her 10th solo studio album (including her first two, which she made under the name Rockettothesky) and her first with 4AD. Along with the news, she shared the album's second single, "Year of Love," which comes with a trippy video treatment.
