The government is said to be pushing for stricter rules in supermarkets amid concerns they have become a hotbed for spreading the disease.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned on Friday that supermarket shoppers might contract Covid by handling goods someone else with the virus had touched.
And last week, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Tesco and Asda beefed up their rules, banning shoppers without masks. Now, supermarkets could be urged to bring in a "shop alone" policy, The Sun on Sunday reports.
