A supermarket that recently became cheaper than Aldi for these budget basics has pipped the retailer once again. We reported last month how Sainsbury's overtook Aldi for the first time in our weekly comparison of shopping essentials.
After becoming the third cheapest retailer behind Lidl and Tesco for the eight items we have tracked since March last year, it then moved into second place and remains there this week.
That's despite it putting the price of its tea bags up by 10p a pack, along with Tesco, as part of their Aldi price match schemes.
