Shotts boss John McKeown is delighted to be top of the West of Scotland First Division table after three games – but is taking nothing for granted.McKeown points out that his side were riding high at the turn of the year, only to be facing relegation towards the end of the campaign.But the Hannah Park club have certainly made a solid start to the new season, following up a 3-2 midweek win at Ashfield with a 1-0 triumph at home to Neilston on Saturday.That leaves them two points clear of Saturday’s hosts Johnstone Burgh, and three ahead of Ashfield, Petershill and Blantyre Vics, going into the weekend.McKeown said: “I think we’re looking decent; it’s a young side, it’s a rebuild.
There have been a lot of new faces added to it, and there will be ups and downs – we’re not daft, we know that.“But so far, so good.
We’re sitting top of the tree after three games.“It’s very early, but it’s a lot better position than we were in at this point last season, and we’ve still got a lot of players to come back.“On Saturday we were missing six or seven who would have been regular starters last season.“There are grounds for optimism.
