'It’s absurd' - ex-Premier League referee slams claims Marcus Rashford dived in Man United vs Nottingham Forest

Mike Dean has slammed Chris Sutton's suggestion that Marcus Rashford dived to win a penalty for Manchester United against Nottingham Forest.

The attacker was brought down by Danilo 15 minutes from time to allow Bruno Fernandes to convert from the spot and complete a comeback 3-2 win for the hosts.

The incident has been the subject of debate in the following days with some believing Rashford went down too easily. Former Premier League winner Chris Sutton went one further, suggesting Rashford had conned referee Stuart Attwell - something former top-flight referee Dean pushed back against.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Sutton said: “Decisions tended to go United’s way in my day and they still do, especially at Old Trafford.
