Giovanni Pernice is reportedly telling friends he's confident the BBC will clear him of any allegations of abusive behaviour, following a meeting with Corporation bosses where he reviewed their investigation dossier.

The Strictly Come Dancing favourite had a sit-down with bosses last week to go over the findings from an inquiry that took months and involved interviews with numerous witnesses.

Interestingly, the recent accusations by Amanda Abbington were not part of this file. Sources suggest that the BBC may have conducted their own assessment and determined that Abbington's more severe allegations did not need to be addressed by Giovanni.

An insider shared with the Mirror: "This would suggest her more serious claims are without merit - and is a massive boost to Giovanni's case. They have clearly done their own due diligence on some of her allegations and decided they didn't warrant inclusion in what was needed to be shared with Giovanni for response." Abbington accused Giovanni of being "abusive, cruel and mean".
