Parts of the Stewartry suffered severe flooding last week after being battered by wind and rain.Downpours began on Wednesday with little let up until the end of the weekend.That led to homes being flooded, roads closed, schools shut and events cancelled.Dalbeattie was particularly badly hit with sandbags provided to residents in and around the Port Street area.Local councillor Rob Davidson said: “There were areas that flooded where you expected to flood but there were also parts where it hasn’t flooded to that area for many years.“Port Street and The Square were particularly badly affected and I believe there were some properties where water did get in which is very sad for those people.”Port Street was only reopened on Monday after council
