Mark Harris decided to have his mum’s ashes exhumed after spotting a hole next to her grave which seemed to be getting wider.
But he was stunned to discover that instead of being properly placed in an urn her remains had been interred in a cheap supermarket carrier bag.
Mark, whose mum died when he was 11 years old in 1991, says the situation is “disgusting” and has questioned how many other people might have been laid to rest in similar circumstances.
Mark, 41, made the discovery after having his mum Muriel Amos exhumed from the Henley Road Crematorium in Reading. He took the decision to have the grave reopened after a hole appeared next to the grave shared by his mother and his stepmother Pamela May Harris.
