A school has reportedly sent 70 students home for wearing incorrect uniform - with one mother saying her child was disciplined for wearing shoes which were 'not polishable'.

Angry parents have slammed Broadlands Academy in Keynsham, Bristol, for its strict new policy. Another mum says her son was told to leave for not wearing a blazer - despite telling his teacher it had not yet arrived.

BristolLive report that dozens of unhappy mums and dads gathered at the school gates demanding answers. Defending the action, the academy's new headteacher Louise Hamilton said a "high standard of uniform had been introduced to benefit pupils' experience at the school".
