School headteacher blames 'staff party' for severe outbreak of coronavirus

The headteacher of a school affected by a severe outbreak of coronavirus has blamed staff members who attended a social event before the start of term.

John Aspin slammed the actions of a 'significant' number of staff at Holy Trinity Stacksteads CE Primary school who went to the event at the home of a former colleague.

Earlier this week, seven teaching bubbles at the school were closed after staff tested positive for coronavirus. As of Tuesday, only Year 1 remained open, with the other year groups closed until at least September 24, LancsLive reports.

Mr Aspin posted a lengthy letter on the school's website, in which he revealed he spent "many hours" trying to work out why so many staff were struck down by Covid-19, before learning
