One shop-savvy mum has revealed how she spent just £30 on all her Christmas presents this year, saving herself a fortune. Alix Shaw has managed to save hundreds of quid on Christmas this year after hunting through charity shops at a time when the average Brit spends £1,116 according to YouGov.
Known by her childhood nickname as "the bootsale kid" because of her love of scouring car-boot sales and charity shops, Alix now gets everything from house goods to clothes and toys second hand.
The 31-year-old from Norfolk rarely buys herself or her one-year-old son Casper, anything new, instead favouring second hand clothing.
