A woman was killed after she was hit by a driver in south Manchester during a police chase. The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning (February 20) when a driver, who had been caught speeding beforehand on the motorway, crashed into two pedestrians.
Despite the best efforts from paramedics, a 71-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene on Kingsway (A34), near Parrs Wood. The usually busy road was shut in both directions whilst emergency services dealt with the incident. The driver had earlier been caught speeding on the M60 and, after following the vehicle, police attempted to bring it to a stop using emergency equipment on Stockport Road.
However, the driver continued on towards the junction of Kingsway and Wilmslow Road where the car then hit the two pedestrians.
