Bruno Fernandes has hailed the impact Fred made on Manchester United in their 4-2 win against Leeds on Sunday afternoon. United led 2-0 at half-time of the match but crumbled again after the break when their Yorkshire rivals netted twice in a minute to turn the game on its head.

Ralf Rangnick's side were visibly shaken by the goals and decided to bring on Fred and Anthony Elanga in order to regain composure in the match, with both substitutes ending up on the score sheet soon after.

Fred gave United much-needed energy at a pivotal time in the match, and afterwards, Fernandes praised him for the impact he made. "Obviously, Fred is a player that works hard, and he is the kind of player who does not get a lot of media (attention) because he works hard, recovers a lot of balls," the Portuguese told MUTV. "He and Scotty (McTominay) are two players who are really important for us in many games.

I am really happy for him, also for Anthony who gets his goal, he deserves that." When asked about United's collapse early in the second-half Fernandes also admitted that his side were guilty of complacency after leading by two goals at the break.
