Scots boarding schools were repeatedly abused by "sadistic monks," an inquiry has ruled. The Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry looked into Carlekemp Priory School in North Berwick, East Lothian and Fort Augustus Abbey School in Inverness-shire.They were both run by the Benedictine monks of Fort Augustus Abbey between 1948 and 1991.It was found that children at the schools suffered sexual, physical and emotional abuse, with some monks being "serial sexual predators" who targeted children at both schools.The inquiry is being chaired by Lady Smith, who published her fifth case study finding, detailing that: "Children were sexually abused at both schools.
