Burnside and found the shell to be empty and safe, and removed it for disposal. Inspector Stephen McManus said: “Officers were called to a report of a metal object which was subsequently identified as an empty shell casing.“As a public safety precaution officers implemented a road closure until the arrival of explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) who confirmed that the shell was empty and it has now been removed for disposal.“I would like to thank the member of the public for their vigilance and prompt contact with the police.“I would like to reiterate this was an empty shell which has been removed and there is no wider risk to the public.”.
