hereGerry Walter, who lives nearby, says a 'large stream' of water has been pouring down the road since it was dug up on Sunday.
He says water had been leaking into the cellar of a neighbouring property, causing it to flood, for around two weeks prior to that.
A spokeswoman for United Utilities said: "It’s always a balance between trying to fix a leak as quickly as we can, but trying to avoid disrupting local water supplies and traffic."This particular leak is on a pipe serving around 200 local properties. "To turn it off we need to operate valves in the middle of a busy road."So we made the decision to postpone the repair until tonight at about 11pm when the traffic is lighter, demand for water is less and local shops are closed."We will.
