A puzzling symbol written by posties has been clarified by one Royal Mail employee. Whether it's bills, birthday cards or spam, sorting through the day's mail can be a chore, pleasant surprise as well as a mystery.
A post on Reddit's Casual UK page explained the code language that can sometimes pop up on your mail. Someone shared a picture of their post with the letter 'P' written and circled on the front of the envelope, The Mirror reported.
Their post read: "Can anybody tell me why all my letters the last few days have had a 'P' symbol written on them?"Hundreds of people responded to the post to let the user know that it doesn't mean anything alarming.In fact, it is just a simple way for the person delivering post to be super organised when out delivering mail as the 'P' stands for parcel.
So the 'P' indicates that when they deliver your letter, they also have a parcel for you. One person who works as a postman shared: "You had a packet/parcel.
