Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (born Rachel Meghan Markle; August 4, 1981) is an American member of the British royal family and former actress. Meghan Markle would have been “hit very hard” by her mum’s decision to return to Los Angeles after the birth of her first grandchild, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, claims a royal expert.Meghan and Harry stepped down from their roles as senior royals the year after Archie was born, but prior to that they were living in Frogmore Cottage on the royal estate in Windsor.Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, stayed at Frogmore for two weeks after Archie was born and is is believed to played a crucial role in helping her daughter and son-in-law adjust to parenthood.“Doria was very supportive,” said royal expert Ashley Pearson, “but, of course, she had to go home, so I think Doria’s absence would have hit Meghan very hard.” It was after her mum’s departure, says royal commentator Emily Andrews that Meghan started to feel “trapped” and “misunderstood” – feelings which ultimately led to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announcing that they were stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family.
