killer who inspired the famous Amityville Horror book after shooting his parents and four siblings dead in 1974 has died in prison.
Ronald DeFeo Jr, whose murder spree also inspired the cult classic movie series, was pronounced dead aged 69 on Friday, state officials told the New York Post.The then 23-year-old used a .35-caliber Marlin lever-action rifle to slaughter his family members, who were all in bed at the time in Long Island, US.His father Ronald DeFeo Sr., 43, mother Louise DeFeo, 43, were shot twice while and siblings Dawn, 18, Allison, 13, Marc, 12, and John, nine, were each shot once.
