The number of fines dished out to parents for children missing school has soared to record levels. Latest figures reveal almost a 60% increase in fines, most of them for term-time holidays.
The statistics from the Department for Education reveal that more than 40,000 penalty notices were issued to parents across the region in the 2022/23 school year.
