Charles Ingram
Charles William Ingram (born 6 August 1963) is an English novelist, computer repairman, and former British Army major who became known for being accused and convicted of cheating on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001, after winning the maximum prize of one million pounds. Following a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court, he was convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception. He was convicted of an unrelated insurance fraud in 2003, and ordered to resign his commission as a major by the Army Board.

During the second episode of ITV series Quiz, viewers watched as Charles Ingram (Matthew Macfadyen) won the top prize on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire – though many were left confused as to how he got away with the scam.

In the episode, his wife Diana (Sian Clifford) was seen conspiring with contestant Tecwen Whittock (Michael Jibson), who coughed at the correct answers to help Charles.

Production staff were left gobsmacked by Charles and his overnight change, as he had been terrible during the first day of his filming, using two of his lifelines just a few questions in.
