The Queen has appeared in public for the first time during lockdown at a very different version of Trooping the Colour. Dressed in a muted jade Stewart Parvin coat and matching hat by Rachel Trevor-Morgan, Her Majesty joined a celebration to mark her Official Birthday in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle.
The event replaces the Trooping the Colour ceremony normally staged in central London, which could not be held in its traditional form because of coronavirus.
Instead, a small, brief, military ceremony with no members of the public present was agreed to mark the occasion. Soldiers from the Welsh Guards, who a few weeks ago were manning Covid-19 test centres, staged the unique event.
