Queen mourners could face 15-hour drenching as 'showers and huge queues expected'

Queen by visiting her coffin over the coming days could face a 15-hour drenching with showers and massive queues predicted. The Queen's coffin is expected to be flown to London tomorrow (Tuesday, September 13) evening, where it will lie in state at Westminster Hall ahead of the funeral on Monday (September 19).

What the bank holiday means for UKAccording to the former Metropolitan Police chief superintendent Parm Sandhu, the queues are expected to be gargantuan.

She told BBC Radio 4’s World At One programme: “London could potentially be full. We are expecting to have people queuing for 12, 15 hours at a time just to file past the coffin.“I don’t ever remember London expecting to be full in this way, even with the Olympics.”Met Office spokesperson Stephen Dixon has issued a warning for those wanting to visit Westminster Hall on Wednesday, saying: "Bringing an umbrella would probably be advisable with the nature of the showers around."It will still feel quite mild with maximum temperatures of 23C which is above average for the time of year."As it heads into the afternoon, that risk does lessen slightly but it will generally be feeling quite mild."For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here.On the Met Office's website, their London and South East England outlook for Wednesday to Friday reads: "Rain or thundery showers, mainly near south coast Wednesday morning, becoming dry with sunny spells developing.
