The 71-year-old heir to the throne and his wife Camilla were welcoming the French President to the UK and accepting a reward on behalf of the city.
Macron bestowed the “Legion D'honneur”, the highest French order of merit for military and civil merits, on London. The capital city was a safe refuge for Charles de Gaulle, leader of the French resistance, during World War 2 after Nazi Germany occupied France.
