Boris Johnson told Emmanuel Macron that extending Brexit trade talks beyond the summer “made no sense” as the pair met in London today The French President jetted into the UK to mark the 80th anniversary of General Charles de Gaulle's rallying cry to France during the Second World War.
Mr Macron and the Prime Minister watched a fly past by the Red Arrows and their French equivalent, La Patrouille de France, above Horse Guards Parade.
But inside Downing Street the pair discussed the stalled negotiations over Britain's future relationship with the EU. Earlier this week, the UK and the bloc admitted “new momentum” was needed to strike agreement by the end of the year – a point Mr Johnson pressed to Mr Macron in No10.
