An emotional appeal by the fiancee of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi for the Premier League to block the £300m takeover of Newcastle is unlikely to succeed.
And while neither the club nor Amanda Staveley's Saudi-backed consortium will respond to the interview Hatice Cengiz gave to BBC 5 Live, it's not thought her latest intervention will be decisive.
The Premier League, who have also declined to comment, are this week expected to give the green light to the deal which will end Mike Ashley 's acrimonious 13-year ownership at St James' Park.
But while his exit and the arrival of the mega-rich Arabs will be widely celebrated on Tyneside, Cengiz' interview has again highlighted grave concerns about human rights in Saudi Arabia.
