Positive coronavirus cases in Ayrshire and Arran rise to 57 as country continues lockdown

Another 16 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Ayrshire and Arran during the last 24 hours.The Scottish Government's confirmation means that the total number of confirmed people with the deadly virus in the region has risen to 57.A total of 719 people have now tested positive in Scotland - a daily rise of 135.Earlier Nicola Sturgeon confirmed the number of deaths in Scotland had reached 22 and there are 51 people in intensive care.

She explained a new advisory body, chaired by Professor Andrew Morris from the University of Edinburgh will help give "the fullest possible understanding of exactly how the virus is spreading in Scotland".The new Scottish Government Covid-19 advisory group will supplement the work of Sage - the UK
