Emergency services were called out to incident, on Tyldesley Road, just before 7pm on Friday (April 30). The male cyclist, whose age has not been confirmed, was taken to hospital.
Following initial enquiries, Greater Manchester Police has now confirmed that the collision involved a cyclist and a vehicle, and that the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.
GMP says that the cyclist was taken to hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. Reports from witnesses on social media suggest the cyclist involved in the crash was a teenager.
