Coronation Street's Sue Johnston has said it is a 'privilege to grow old' after losing some of her friends of her peers over the years.  She added that she has no plans to retire and while she does lament feeling 'tired', acting still 'excites' her 'after all this time'. During her 40-year acting career, the star has played two different roles in much-loved Coronation Street, once in 1982 when she appeared as Mrs Chadwick and then returning in 2012 as Gloria.

Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has been supported as she shared 'previous memories' of herself and her late co-star Dean Sullivan following his sad death. The actress was devastated back in November when it was confirmed her Brookside co-star had died following a short illness.

The Royle Family star Sue Johnston has opened up on how difficult it is to watch the once hugely-popular comedy series in the years since fellow star Caroline Aherne sadly died. Sue, who played family matriarch Barbara Royle in the iconic show from 1998 to 2012, was on-screen mum to daughter Denise (played by Caroline), and the pair joined show star Ricky Tomlinson as Jim Royle. Sadly, Caroline, who also created the sitcom, died of cancer after a short battle with the disease in 2016.

Brookside was a staple part of many people's childhoods in the 80s and 90s. So when news recently came out that episodes are on STV to watch again, viewers were delighted.The show, which was set in Liverpool on a specially made street, first aired in November 1982 and produced a number of iconic and memorable moments. The Grant family was one of the first fictional clans to step onto Brookside when the soap first aired on Channel 4 in 1982.The much-loved drama quickly became an '80s and '90s classic as it told the stories of the residents of Brookside Close in Liverpool for 21 years across 2,915 episodes. Although the series had a long and successful run, Brookside finally came to an end in 2003 after being axed due to low ratings. Celebrity Gogglebox was back on our screens tonight and the show reunited TV royalty. Sitting down to watch the telly was none other than The Royle Family stars Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston.
