Sue Johnston is delving into her family history on ITV's 'DNA Journey', where she uncovers a war hero ancestor who advocated for homes for returning soldiers and a baronet who trained horses for the king.
The 80 year old star, hailing from Lancashire, is famed for her portrayals of Sheila Grant in 'Brookside' and Barbara Royle in 'The Royle Family'.
She also graced the cobbles as Gloria Price in 'Coronation Street'. Before her acting career took off, Johnston worked as a Higher Grade tax inspector and was romantically linked to a member of the Swinging Blue Jeans.
She later worked for the Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein. Johnston embarked on her acting journey at 21, studying at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
