He joins an ensemble that already includes Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, Pete Davidson, Shailene Woodley, Anthony Ramos, Vincent D’Onofrio, Dane DeHaan, America Ferrera and Myha’la Herrold. 

A film version of Murder, She Wrote is in the works and an Oscar winner is looking to take on the role made famous by the TV show’s original star, Angela Lansbury.

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer Jamie Lee Curtis better bust out the doilies and contempo casual trench coats — it seems she’s headed to “Murder, She Wrote.” Variety has confirmed that Oscar winner Curtis is in early talks to play the iconic Jessica Fletcher, a crime writer turned crack detective, who was at the center of the long-running original TV series that starred Angela Lansbury. Universal Pictures is putting together an untitled feature film project together around Fletcher, via producers Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Amy Pascal (all have overall deals on the Donna Langley-run studio lot). Early concepts around the character and any premise are currently unknown.

Michaela Zee A “Murder, She Wrote” movie is in the works at Universal Pictures, with “Dumb Money” writers Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo and producer Amy Pascal attached, Variety has confirmed. Blum and Angelo joined the project prior to the writers strike, and will not resume their work on the screenplay until the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have reached a deal. The “Murder, She Wrote” film is among the writers’ next projects, Blum and Angelo’s representatives shared with Variety.
