Cinespia Launches Summer Season Including Rose Bowl Screening of ‘Almost Famous’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Selena Kuznikov Cinespia has announced the first screenings to kick off its 23rd summer season of outdoor screenings around Los Angeles, and will host a first-time screening at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Stadium. Upcoming viewings include “Mamma Mia!” on May 10, “Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” on May 17 at Los Angeles State Historic Park and “Almost Famous” on May 25 at the Rose Bowl Stadium. “We’re thrilled to be back for our 2024 summer season with an amazing initial lineup of films,” said John Wyatt, founder of Cinespia.

‘Twisters’ Trailer: Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones Chase Massive Tornadoes in Disaster Film’s Sequel

Twisters,” a follow-up to the 1996 box office hit “Twister.” The disaster film aired its first trailer during the Super Bowl. Starring Glen Powell, who plays a self-described “tornado wrangler,” and Daisy Edgar-Jones as a scientist, the film is set for a July 19 release. Billed as a “new chapter” of the original, the film is directed by Oscar nominee Lee Isaac Chung, known for his film “Minari,” which shared an agricultural setting and little else with “Twisters.” Along with Powell and Edgar-Jones, Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Daryl McCormack and Maura Tierney round out the cast.

Liev Schreiber, Tyne Daly Starring in Broadway Revival of ‘Doubt: A Parable’

Brent Lang Executive Editor No-holds-barred psychological warfare is about to break out as “Doubt: A Parable”returns to Broadway. Two theatrical heavyweights, Tyne Daly and Liev Schreiber, will try to put their own spin on the roles of a prickly nun and the reformist priest she fears may be doing the unthinkable. They are parts first portrayed on Broadway by Cherry Jones and Brían F. O’Byrne, she won a Tony and he was nominated, and later on screen by Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman, both picked up Oscar noms. The play won a Tony and a Pulitzer for John Patrick Shanley. This revival arrives courtesy of Roundabout Theatre Company and will be directed by Tony Award nominee Scott Ellis (“Tootsie,” “Take Me Out”). “Doubt: A Parable” will begin performances in February 2024 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway. The remaining cast members and design team will be announced at a later date.

Naman Ramachandran Daryl McCormack is set to feature alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones in Universal and Amblin Entertainment’s “Twisters,” a sequel to 1996’s “Twister,” Variety has learned. McCormack will play a supporting role to Daisy Edgar Jones’ character, Variety understands. “Minari” helmer Lee Isaac Chung is directing the film from a script by “The Revenant” writer Mark L. Smith. “Twisters” is set to release on July 19, 2024. McCormack starred with Emma Thompson in “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande,” for which he was nominated for leading actor at this year’s BAFTA Film Awards. He was also nominated for the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award. The actor’s credits also include hit series “Bad Sisters,” for which he was nominated in the best actor in a supporting role – drama category at the Irish Film and Television Awards.

Almost Famous is headed to Broadway in 2022.The 2001 coming-of-age film was based on Crowe’s own experiences in the early 1970s when he was a teenage music journalist for Rolling Stone, touring with rock bands Led Zeppelin, Eagles, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
