Cristiano Ronaldo left dumbfounded by "almost absurd request" to change his position
Manchester United before joining Spanish giants Real Madrid, and the Portuguese star was known for cutting in from the left to devastating effect. But Ronaldo was asked to become a centre-forward at Juventus, and despite adopting the no.9 role at United during his second stint, he didn't like the idea of being a regular starter in a central role. That's according to Maurizio Sarri, who perhaps got the best season out of Ronaldo while he was at Juevntus, after making the mega-move from Madrid in 2018.But the Italian revealed that Ronaldo refused to play centre-forward, and believes that it may be contributing to his goal drought at United as he is a natural out wide.Sarri was asked by Sky Italia if Ronaldo refused to play as a striker under him at Juventus, and the current Lazio coach said: "Cristiano scored more Serie A goals in his season with me than any other. What is Cristiano Ronaldo's best position at Manchester United? Comment below."He was prepared to play centre-forward in a few games when we had an emergency situation, but he didn’t much like the idea of doing it regularly."In those situations, you end up challenging the certainties that the player has. Maurizio Sarri suffers brutal blow on touchline as player clatters into ex-Chelsea boss
Chelsea boss got a little too close to the action as Lazio defender Manuel Lazzari tussled with Udinese's Ignacio Pussetto on the by-line.Lazzari body-checked his opponent, sending him clattering into Sarri and knocking the chain-smoking Italian to the floor.Slow-motion replays showed the 63-year-old's face wrap around Pussetto's shoulder as his glasses flew off in comical fashion.Luckily, both men got back to their feet and gave each other a cuddle, and Sarri even offered up a wry smile after retrieving his glasses."That definitely calls for a smoke break," one person tweeted after the collision."Flying glasses are pure poetry," said another."The fact that our chain-smoking king got up before a fully fit athlete still has me in tears," a Chelsea fan tweeted.Another fan joked: "He dived, where's VAR?"It's arguably the most uncomfortable Sarri's looked on a touchline since Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to come off in the 2018 Carabao Cup final.Which Premier League manager would you most like to see getting knocked on their arse?
