Beating Celtic in the Champions League could be the spark to light a fuse under Lazio's season, according to Manuel Lazzari. The versatile star played the whole 90 minutes of Tuesday's 2-0 win over Brendan Rodgers' side, as Ciro Immobile's late double sealed a spot in the last 16 for Maurizio Sarri's side.
While strong in Europe, the Eternal City club are mired in a poor Serie A campaign that currently has them marooned in mid-table.Lazzari is at a loss to explain why their form dips and dives from continent to matters on home soil but reckons their clash with Celtic came at just the right time, and could prove to be defining ahead of facing Cagliari.
He said: "We hope it leaves us with a lot of energy, a lot of adrenaline to throw us back into the championship where we are behind.
We don't even know why this difference with the Champions League, certainly going through to the next round is something important."Already tomorrow an inside or outside match awaits us, we will have to approach it like Tuesday night.
